BÁRZAGA HISTORY
BÁRZAGA is born from the name of designer Alejandro Piedra Bárzaga's mother. Founded on 18/01/2024 between two geographies: Miami and Cuba. Yellow is her mother's favorite color, laden with symbolism in her culture. BÁRZAGA is a bridge between heritage and modernity, representing an elegant armor for those who migrate between cultures, carrying their history. We design from the need to protect what has no physical place. To carry with pride who you are and where you come from. We are the consequence of a void: a need to give voice to Cuban fashion that has been absent from the global landscape. We are not only an aesthetic proposal, but a reclamation to fill that blank space, and at the same time create a new narrative of Cuban luxury that is as universal as it is intimate.
From the beginning we define ourselves as a house that functions as tailoring, art and conceptual narrative. We are neither streetwear nor traditional ready-to-wear. We are a hybrid practice between fashion, object, contrasts and thought. We come from an environment marked by decaying architecture, fragmented identity, interrupted history and beauty that reinvents itself in tension. BÁRZAGA exists within luxury, but does not respond to traditional luxury. We are not ostentation and we are not a trend. We are narrative luxury, symbolic and rooted in culture. We propose a complex, intellectual and deeply emotional presence.
Philosophy
BÁRZAGA is built on a series of constant principles. Garments are born from a wound whether historical, personal or cultural transforming into protection. The interaction of opposite, cultural and stylistic elements that unite to coexist beautifully. Objects that shelter rather than adorn, functioning as symbols of protection. The body as territory; wearing BÁRZAGA is like an amplifier of your inner voice, it is a space where you recognize yourself and, at the same time, project yourself beyond. It is inhabiting yourself as an amplified echo toward the world, an emotional, political and spiritual state.
